What's your process from start to finish?
Dog plushies are brought to Silky Hound HQ, where they get inspected, repaired if necessary, cleaned, photographed, and lotted into an auction on whatnot. Bids get placed during a live sale, and the highest one wins. Winners should stay tuned for confirmation emails and shipping info from whatnot, and get ready to welcome home your new Silky Hound!
How are the plushies cleaned?
All Silky Hounds are subjected to a rigorous cleaning process. Most are machine washed in a silk pillowcase, using detergent formulated for sensitive skin and an enzymatic cleaner. Then, they're gently tumble or air dried, and brushed back out to their fluffiest state. Plushies that still have their original tags intact are generally frozen in sealed bags to eliminate any ickies first, then steam cleaned.
Where do the plushies come from?
Many Silky Hounds are found waiting for their new homes in local thrift, secondhand, or charity shops. Others are generously donated and mailed to Silky Hound HQ by our fabulous supporters. If you're interested in donating plushies, please do send us an email at hello@silkyhound.com.
Are the plushies safe for kids?
We do our best to inspect, clean, and repair each plushie we come across, though we still encourage you to use your personal discretion when gifting Silky Hounds, or any secondhand item, to children. We do our best to call out any repairs, condition issues, or special features, and whether or not plushies have new materials or consumer safety tags.
Can I donate plushies?

Do you ship internationally?

Do I have to pay any auction fees?
Nope! You just pay the hammer price of the Silky Hound you won, along with applicable taxes and shipping costs! No buyers premiums or extra fees.
How do you pick the shelters you donate to?
We aim to support U.S. shelters with on-site residents that are especially in need of funds or resources. We love getting recommendations, so send us an email or tag us on social media to let us know which organizations you would like to see supported.
